From low-cost housing to luxury residential estates, road works, engineering and other structural and infrastructure developments, the company is a major contributor to the South African housing industry’s value chain. Materials and labour are sourced locally where possible, often injecting millions of Rands into communities.
At the Barzani Group we believe in giving back to the communities from where we draw our workforce and who give us reason and opportunity to fulfil our mandate and motto of “Changing Lives”.

  • Improving living conditions
One instance of reaching out to improve the way communities live took place in the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipal area of Upington. We completed stand pipe installations and water meters to all 324 erven that form part of the Smarties 324 project. Much planning and labour have finally paid off and we were able to provide a stand pipe and metered water to each home in a community that had been without running water for 10 years.
  • Food parcels
We have been involved in SPCA food deliveries and also various food parcel drops including:
    – Partnering with the Rotary Club of Klerksdorp to distribute over 1 000 meat parcels to old age homes, shelters and orphanages in the area.
    – A meat drop for the Atamelang Shelter.
    – Partnering with Rotary Club Kerksdorp for a meat drop at the Triest Training Centre for people with Intellectual Disabilities.

Rugby is a big and exciting sponsorship for us. The Barzani Group has sponsored both the Griquas and Puma teams. Our sponsorship provided the teams with much needed support during a tough year. On a smaller, more localised, but no less important initiative, we are sponsoring the full team kit of the Ganspan Football Club, in a community where the formation of the club has had a far-reaching positive effect.

  • Movember
Most of our staff took part in a 60 km walk to raise awareness for Movember during November.  Many have also participated in building, painting and renovating various homes and NPO structures in local communities.
  • Charity
SAVF Rethabile Child and Youth Care Centre, in Klerksdorp improves the lives of 150 children through intensive physical, social and psychological services. 24 of the children live in the centre. We refurbished all the kids’ bedrooms with new beds and bedding, gave the walls a new lick of paint and made a happy, comfortable dining area for them.
